I've got a pile of bodywork to do on my mini.
Is it worth hiring a spot welder rather than doing plug welds?

Also, I'm tempted by a rotisserie-style jig so I can get at the floor easily - but is it really that much better than rolling the body over on a mattress?
Given that I'll probably have to brace the body internally anyway.

a spot welder does great clean welds, but the metal must be ultra clean. you also need a good range of arms to get in all the areas. a decent welder with acceptable duty cycle is quite expensive.

the spits are great, but do take up a bit of space - very handy if you have the room though.

i wouldnt be without either now-a-days.

my other dream tool is a big box of cleco grips and the pliers - very handy when doing panel work
