Hi guys,

Still having problems with my clutch, just spent 2 hours out on the drive fitting a new clutch master cyl, but the bite is still on floor. I need to adjust the nut and stopper nut on the flywheel housing (verto type) but not quite sure how to do it. Right now the nut is adjust quite far out and hardly moves when the clutch is pressed and lifted.

What do you suggest?

Cheers

if its a verto clutch there is no adjustment to be made.

all you adjust is the overthrow - to stop the slave cylinder pushing the clutch too far and damaging the spring.

you do this by undoing the two bigs nuts, pressing the clutch - sticking a spacer in the gap and tightening the nuts (plus a flat) to that gap (IIRC, its a while since ive done a verto!)

you can even leave the nuts undone to use the car (as long as you dont press the pedal right to the floor).

if the bite point is right at the floor it suggests that either the plate or the spring are worn out - or there is a load of free play in the clutch arm.

I would check for wear in the clutch arm ball end and the clevis pins etc , a little slack in the system equates to a lot of pedal movement.

All sorted now, thanks guys & cheers Rich for the phone support phone

Ended up welding a blob on the end of the clutch arm and shaping it to re-form the ball end as it had a severely worn flat. I re-bled the clutch (still haven't found the easy bleed!) and jobs a good'n! The adjustment bolts are on the end of the thread nipped up. I cant get the clutch to the floor due to the masses of insulation, carpet and floor matt.

I'll have to learn to weld so I don't have to disturb the Yorkshireman from his decorating duties!

Thanks again, just needs a damn good bleed now.
