Discussion
Hi chaps.
My fist car was a 1071 Cooper S and I was fairly clued up then but, after 20 odd years, I'm a bit out of touch.
My eldest will start to drive in August and he wants a classic Mini, which pleased me, so I'm looking into it.
I'd like to insure it myself on a classic policy and then add him as a driver.
There seems to be a big difference in prices out there, so what should I be looking for? I'm thinking £2-3k
Thanks

If it was me (There are a lot of options) I would look for standerd car. Non sports pack eg with out 13" wheels. There are a lot of good cars around for that money, but a lot of rust and bad cars around as well. Probably not a cooper but if you see a good one I would not turn it down. Dont pay over the odds for limited additions. Good luck I hope you find a good one.
And just as a side line do make shore that you end up (or at least make it look posible) driving the car more than your son, the insurance companys are looking much closer theys days.
