Wiring stereo's is pretty easy once you know how:
red cable: The main power feed to the stereo - This should be taken after the ignition switch so that the stereo can't be left on without the key in the ignition.
yellow cable: The 'memory' feed - this should be a fused connection to a permanent live in order to save radio station presets and clock times etc. It has such a low current draw it won't drain your battery over night!
black cable: 'Earth' this will need connecting to an earth wire or directly to 'earthed' metal.
blue cable: Is a switch wire for turning on your electric aerial (if you have one)
the otherside has the speaker wires - can't remember which is which but basically you have a front left, front right, rear left, rear right - these are easily identified by wiring in two or four speakers and playing with the fade and balance to see which one does what.
white cable
white and black stripe cable
green cable

purple cable

grey cable
grey and black stripe cable
then a seperate cable on its own blue with a white stripe with att wrote at the top - don't worry about this
