Great project.

1480cc? Check what the classes are, are they up to 1400cc? Need to check the regs as well, there was a thing locally where if you'd removed the rear parcel bins, to help get a roll cage in, you were no longer eligible for modified saloons and had to go up against westfields and the like.

I would also go with a webber 45 on a long inlet. Consider drilling to 11 studs as well. Are you keeping it road legal or are you trailering it?

Where will you be competing? Theres a series in the South / South west run by the DEWs (Downton Works) Club.

Does anyway have the blue book handy, wondering what the current regs for Helmet and Overalls are, think mine have been made reduntant. Helmet is BS 6658-85 Type A blue sticker but i think they now have to be type A/F red sticker,

Nice car and good plans, but dont go 1480cc or you'll get shoved into the sports libre category and be very uncompetitive. The car doesnt need to be road legal if its in mod prod (which you will end up in with that spec) however it will need to be log booked if it isnt.

Have you read the blue book on the MSA site? I seriously recommend you do before spending any money.

EDIT: Beam axle will put you in sports libre I think....

You would probably be best keeping to the lower spec classes as to go too far you'll spend a lot more cash and be less competitive. Read the 'Blue Book'.
Don't forget a limited slip diff and a very low final drive ratio
