My 61 Mk 1 project has the earlier full skirt front panel (no cutouts at the outside edges).
The front panel needs a bit of work and I'm not a massive stickler for authenticity, so does anyone think it would make much difference to value if replaced with the later type?

What's the reason for not using a full skirt version ?

Didn't realise you could still get them?

I think the design changed so that the brakes got more airflow.

Maybe you could cut the ends off the early panel and weld them to the new panel with the cut-away ends to maintain originality. If you wanted to sell it as original, the ends should be the full-form ones to get the best price.

you can either buy a front panel ready modified, or just the parts to modify a front panel your self from mini machine.

stuff like this will affect the value if your doing it to standard, if your doing other mods it doesnt really matter. the cut outs where done to get more air onto the disc brakes, but on a road car it wont really affect it - unless you drive like a looney!

The car won't end up standar, but will look standard - she'll end up with Metro turbo power (probably with the Mirage manifold so there's no bulkhead cut) and mini spares 4-pots, but all mods will be reversible - I don't want to do any serious chopping of a mk1 for vaue reasons.

Front panel available from M-Machine as stated above.

Helpful chaps indeed and website is http://www.m-machine.co.uk/index.htm

Edit to add: if your having turbo power then you may well need the cut outs for extra brake cooling
