Hello thought I would start a little thread up about my little mini it has been a tale of up's and massive down's due to a crash about 12 months ago followed by whiplash claims etc... which eventually all got thrown out the window and thankfully insurance never got involved with the end meaning I could get on with rebuilding it. Anway bellow is a list of what the spec will be when completed or what it already has
Engine:-
998cc
Stage 1 Kit
HS4 Carb
Straight Through Twin Exit Exhaust
Cooper 12g295 Head
Rolling road tunning and skimmed to suit (Will be done after rebuild)
Brakes:-
Metro Vented 4 Pots and Minifin drums to rear
Interior:-
Bucket Seats (Will be replaced with orange and black ones)
Custom Black with orange stiched doorcards (optomise autmotive)
Custom Black with orange stiching headlining and sunvisors (optomise automotive)
New Black Carpet
Rear Black Vinyl Seat Cover
Black Leather Dash
Chrome Handle Kit
Stereo:-
JVC High End Headunit
2 x Vibe Slick 6x9 Speakers Under Back seats
2 x 4" Speakers in Dash
Powered by a vibe slick a2 amplifier
2 x Tweeters on Dash Rail
1 x Preamped Vibe Sub in boot
A better boot build and a decent set of components to replace the front speakers will be added when money allows
Exterior:-
Focus ST Respray
Blended Wide Arches
12x6 Superstar Alloys
Twin Exit Exhaust
Chrome Grill, Bumpers, Headlamp Rings etc... bits that are pitted will be replaced
Suspension:-
New rubber cones all round
Spax Shocks all round

That is about it for the major modifications future plans include a 1293 turbo engine but this will be a couple of years away due to the increase in insurance costs. Also will be be doing a lot of work to the underside and trying to get everything as mint as possible. Pictures to follow

Pre - Crash

Now it look's to me mint on these photo's and it pretty much was. However it did had problems which are being adressed in the rebuild first off all front panal at the bottom was made of fiberglass whoever sprayed the car seemed to have done a lot of work to the back of car which is all mint and then ran out of money at the front. Really for a show quality it needed to be replaced also the inner wings appeared to be made of filler as well. And one door was beggining to bubble. However I was really nitpicking here and on the whole it was a nice car that attracted a lot of attention.

And then the crash was combination of drum brakes, icy weather and the minibus slamming its brakes on to let someone out which led to all the problem damage ripped front arches away and knocked wings in although as they were solid (bar one headlamp ring) these have been knocked out and only a new bonnet and front panal would be needed as well as me sorting out the inner wings.

Rebuild
About 3 months ago insurance eventually all got sorted and I could finally get set to work. However university and work has meant that progress has been fairly slow. However the car should be back on the road for spring ready for the shows.

I first started work by stripping the interior out and then setting to work on the floors. These were pretty solid as I hoped so just needed a couple of small patches and then I set to work with the paint. Afer that I put down some soundproofing with a few pictures of this being bellow.

After that I then began to strip down the front end

That looks excellent. Did you buy the head or was it on the car when you bought it?

I brought it for £85 a few months ago off a running car then got my dad's mate to tidy it up for me and give it a check over and all seems well. Not actually fitted yet but when all tunned up it should give 55 - 60bhp hopefully.

Cut more of it off like the wing's found the front of the sill was mainly filler and the sun news paper dated 2001 so getting that welded up at the moment then fitting a new a panel and r/h wing and finally getting the new front end welded on dad has started cracking on again as he wants it sorted for spring will get some pictures when I go home on tuesday smile

Wow One year Later and not much progress has been made been too busy at University and at Work to do anything it now looks like this is being welded is being finished off next week as long as weather is okay then front end is sorted and can stick the rad and stuff back in and get it started for first time in over a year. Had to change the r/h wing as it was too far gone to repair around the headlamp ring. I did manage to get the left wing back into shape and was solid so no need to change r/h a panel is being replaced as well and took one of the doors off to get it re skinned should be solid again soon at least it will be ready for spring smile
