My tyres are really prone to squeeling
Discussion
I know this is late, but it may be of interest to some people.
My Mini has adjustable suspension on the front which I have been meaning to lower for ages. I lowered it today and the handling has been improved significantly and, although I haven't yet tested it properly, the tyre squeeling seems to have been reduced, if not resolved.
I'll still be getting the tracking done, but it's less desperate now.
I just need to get used to the handling again.

lowering you car affects the tracking as it increases the toe in.
this is why it shows an improvement - its still worth getting it checked so you know that its correct
Surely as you lower the car it lengthens the bottom arms subsequently making the track rods shorter and more toe out Rich ? lowering you car affects the tracking as it increases the toe in.

Hmm could have sworn that lowering the car gave you abit more negative camber (not enough to counteract the masses of positive camber minis have as standard) this of course in turn does affect toe, cant remember which way though.
When I had the tracking done on mine i was advised to have slight toe out, about 1/16th of an inch I think, but this was coupled with negative camber so not sure if that advise still applies, im not sure why not.

lowering a mini does also increase the camber - it also changes the castor, which changes the toe - you cannot adjust one (by any large ammount) without it affecting the other by some degree - though some of the changes are relative as they move through 'arcs' as you alter it
the trick is understanding which one alters the other and by what ammount when your setting the suspension up!
ive done two cars recently for people, both of which had 3 deg toe out - both people where amazed at how much improvement there was once it was set right!
