Just bought a mini 1993. Was wondering what the best option would be with regards to insurance. The one problem is that I'm 19 years of age, held a licence just for over a year, one years no claims. Would the car qualify for classic insurance and are there companys where I am old enough for classic insurance? This car would be a second car and would only be driven roughly 2000 miles a year. Would another option be just being a named river on my dad's policy (he would drive this car too)? Are there limited mileage policies? I currently own another car, could the mini be put on the same policy? So many questions, so many options, but way would insurance work out the cheapest?

Many thanks

The car would be ok for classic insurance, but you will have to look around to find some one how will insurance some one under 21, but there are companys. Also try a web comparison company and get a mini mag and phone all the insurnace people in there. Sounds like a lot of work but for the cost saving worth it. Dont just go on an insuance compant becuse some one sounds like they are in the same position as you, one small change can make a big diffrance in cost.

Would you be able to tell me some of the classic car isnurance companies which insure drivers under 21? I can't even find companies which insure drivers under 25!

My son has had a mini since he was 17. LV gave the best quote by far. Now he is 20 and has a Cooper S, HIC gave the best quote

I doubt you'll get a proper classic policy at that age.

Best advice is to shop around, starting with people like Flux and Footman who would specialise in older vechiles. See what you get.

Unfortunately at 19, even your best quote is going to hurt. A lot. If it makes you feel any worse better about it, I'm 26 and the insurance on mine with an agreed value with Footman James is £102 a year.
