www.manchester-minis.cwc.net/technical.htm
or more accurately:
www.manchester-minis.cwc.net/technical/standard_engine_types.htm

I'd take a guess it is 62hp or therabouts, leaded, and a 9.75:1 CR with 33/29 valves.

I supose the big difference between the 62bhp engine and 72bhp one is compresion ratio.

I want to have about 80 bhp in my mini.

To get this I have a 270PipperCar, A maniflow LCB and a Weber carb with manifold.

My knowledge of the A-series is limited, but I think that is possible.

Isn't it?

The 72hp metros had larger inlet valves, a 'mild road' camshaft, different advance curve, higher CR, much better manifolding, and (i think) a better airfilter case.

I'm little desappointed.

I will assemble the engine and tell you the result.

My MG metro engine made 80 bhp with just a LCB and K&N filter when put on the rollers, went bang that evening though
