Right then... I'm pretty bored on the net and have decided to tell some people ,my ideal mini.

Let me know what you guys think, any unrealistic ideas etc..

Ok heres the list:

- Fibreglass mini shell with built in 6 point integral roll cage
- Z cars RWD Bike engine conversion kit
- Carbon Fibre all over. Bonnet, Front, Boot and Dash
- Racing type single skin doors with Perspex/polycarbonate windows all round excluding windscreen
- Engine would be 'Busa with turbo (holeshot racing kit) around 300bhp
- Auxillaries would be; intercooler, lightweight rads, stainless exhaust exiting boot
- Front sus would be coilovers on lightweight titanium or alloy subframe and components (force racing)
- 7 x 10" Force alloys (can you get road tyres to fit these?)
- Cobra Imola seats
- Harnesses
- Halogen Headlights
- Clear lenses all round
- lowered as much as possible

I would want to go for the mean, low, "wow look at that go" look. For track and road use. The only reason that I would go for a fibreglass shell is because they dont rust, cost half of a heritage shell and most of the time cheaper than repairing shell.

I cant decide upon a colour, but cherry red with a white roof is my colour of the week.

A few technical questions:

- Can the z-cars conversion work on 10's?
- Could you use a fibreglass shell with the z-cars conversion (bearing in mind that ther will be a huge amount of strengthening from the internal roll cage. In other words, making it more like a spaceframe design)?

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Thinking of something along the same lines myself.
Only down side is that new fibre glass shell and all new engine etc, would have to go though SVA, and would almost garentee a Q plate.

So have reverted back to buying an 1972 Clubman needing some work. But yes may cost £1400 to do steel shell, but that will be with Carbon front doors and boot, so wieght would be not far of the same.

As far as the Z Cars thing goes on a F/G shell, I sure they would do what ever you want, but you would end up paying more than the normal £4K.

Sounds good! I have a similar vison of my next project, and was thinking of going one step more on the weight saving by geting rid of the seat for the girlfriend/pie eating mates, and haveing a center driving position such as the sportcycle or aeon 420-3
www.sportcycle.co.uk and www.aeonsportscars.com

What do you recon?

The only problem is i am good at comeing up with the ideas, designs, etc but dont have time cash or expertise to carry them out.

Sounds good, but I would have thought that two seats would distribute the weight more evenly.

I would go for 2 as normal and put a nos bottle/fire extinguisher and most of the wiring down the opposite side.

Then set the corner weights.

but surly if you are sat in the center the weight is equal left to right? just you have reduced it by one fat mate and a seat?

I supose the other route may be to get thiner friends!!!

Or sack the idea of friends, have two seats...

one for yourself and another for the life size blow up doll weighing exactly the same as you, for better weight distribution?! lol
