I've got a yellow spec one in the GT and it's time to replace the points etc. - It started miss firing today after getting pretty warm about 1 hour in to a drive and they're usually the culprit.
What's the best source at the minute for parts that wont expire after a few hundred miles?

Speak diretly to Aldon. They should be able to help. Alternatively contact Mini Spares for advice on points that will last a while.

I was flicking through a recent Minimag last night and Keith Calver was musing on this subject, that all these electrical bits and pieces are made real cheap and suffer from failure. His suggestion was to switch to an electronic ignition kit, like the alden ignitor or luminition one. He mentions swiftune, they have condensers and rotor arms http://www.swiftune.com/Category/68/ignition.aspx

I'd put a 123 distributor in that has a built in electronic ignition unit. All the lucas et al ignition parts are made in china /inida badly and cause no end of problems. I had endless probs on my race car with even genuine lucas rotor arms and dizzy caps etc.

Chhers for the replies.
I actually dug out a lumenition kit that I had bought a few years ago and forgotten about (sits inside the dizzy). Seems to be running more smoothly now.

e.t.a Just checked with my cousin, who sorted it out, and the kit was an Aldon Ignitor.
