Hi. After months of sweat and tears (admittedly mostly from my dad) my mini as near to perfect as my wallet can afford! After a few issues with the somewhat tempremental alarm/immobiliser remote I've decided that I should probably invest in a spare. I've managed to get hold of an old remote, but can't find anyone who's willing to reprogramme it for me without me posting my ECU to them (which I'm not really willing to do after spending so long getting the mini on the road!) I was given a four digit 'security' code with the car which I assume is needed to do this.
Does anyone know of any companies in the Surrey area that can reprogramme the remote without me having to take the car off the road?

Cheers in advance biggrin

A chap in our club had his done by a landrover dealer, they use the same key fobs on earlier landrovers and i guess he was lucky the tech knew what was needed, seem to remember it didn't cost a lot either as it was a simple matter of plugging in and resetting something.

rachel

if you search back through the posts on this forum you will find a detailed one about plips etc that explains all the ins and outs of missing plips etc

basically you cannot program the plip fob - you program the ecu to it (which is why the company needs your ecu)

the four digit code will be the radio code i guess.

Rich is right , the plips are preset (not programable) , its the car/ecu that has to be programed to accept plips (old and new). Search for an old dealer or landrover dealer who has a T4 PC to do it . The 4 digit code is either your radio code / key number/ KAC (Key Access Code - which is not applicable on a mini).

Thanks for all the info. I have a separate code for my radio so I'm guessing it's just another bit of random information they decided to give me with the car just to confuse me.
I'll go and have a chat with our local landrover dealer and see if they can work out how to do it.

Cheers everyone again thumbup
