Bored of A-series engine
Discussion
I know im being silly and dreaming, but here it goes.
they are so slow, infeffient, unreilable. but i like driving minis.
I want to keep the mini orginal as possible, shell wise with flip front bonnet.
Can hayabusa or any other reilable big engine fitted in mini without major modifcation? i.e keep the engine up the front. not behind seat or whatever.
What is other engine that can be fitted in mini?
Vauxhall
Rover K series (Lotus elise engine would be awesome)
Honda Vtec
Ford zetec? never seen anyone fit it
Hayabusa 1300cc ohhhhhhh (can this fitted as fwd motor with reverse gearbox?)
any other engines?
Jay

Z cars are working on a bike engine driving the front wheels at the moment.
VTEC, Vauxhall and K Series all fit on a modified Metro subframe and fit with body modifications.
Theres a chap who even fits a V8 transversely driving the front wheels. The torque steer on that thing must be monumental.
Depends on how long you want to spend doing it and how much money you have to throw at it...

have you looked at www.16vmini.co.uk ?
There is lots of good advice on that site...
And as regards the K - i reckon the 1.4 is a cracking little motor, and has a much greater reliability than the 1800 with the wet liners...
Even so - the gearbox is HUGE!
I'm thinking of the 1600 honda engine as fitted to the rover 216 / 416 - 115hp, or around 120 if in good health with a decent exhaust and air filter... and cheap as chips to buy!
There is a conversion from Rob Hall of Allspeed engineering that fits the 1600 engine from the latest generation of vauxhalls (i think with alloy block) into a roundnose mini with NO external mods at all... Well worth a look! (mentioned on above site!)
