My son has a 1990 Mini.
You can put the hazard warning lights on that all work fine then turn them off the indicators won’t work.
After a bit of time and wiggling the stork up and down they start to work again.
He MOT is due in a month and I need to get them sorted by then.
A strange one I know and ideas would be great.

Thanks
Rob

He had his first driving lesson today.

probably the hazard switch is faulty,

when its turned ON it operates the hazards and turns the pwer to the indicators OFF

when you turn it OFF it turns the power to the indicators back ON

its possible to turn the switch OFF but not enough to turn the power to the indicators back ON.

easy thing is to meter the stalk and the flasher unit to see where the power fails.

if the stalk is faulty its normally one side only that doesnt work.

hope this helps!

As above, remembering both are powered from a different source - ie the indicators are powered from an ignition feed, whereas the hazards are permenantly live. Hence the reason why the hazards remove the power to the indicator circuit.
