Whats the best way of securing the rubber boots on the wheel end? Tried cable ties, but they don't seem to grip well enough. The metal clips are a pain to do up. Someone suggested lock wire, but if using lockwire, what sort of diam is used, 1mm?

I've used both 0.8 MIG wire or galvanised steel locking wire. Both work OK, but when you wind the ends together to tighten the wire don't overtighten or you will snap the wire and have to start again. I usually wind the wire around the gaiter about 4 complete turns.
