Can any one help?
the alternator packed up the other day so changed the alternator now the charging light doesnt come on when the key is in pos 1 but when the car is started then revved it comes on and stays on?
the belt is tight, put a new battery on also gone through 4 alternators from the local motor factors!
the first alternator wasn't charging the battery, the second was putting out 16 volt erratically,
the third had broken brushes, the fourth is now charging the battery 14.5v without load 13.8v with load but the light wont go out.

thanks in advance

Have you tried getting the battery condition checked ?

New doesn't necessarily mean it's ok and could have been damaged by over charging and/or the cold snap were having.

Try checking the wiring to the alternator. If you get a 'cross-feed' on the alternator wiring into the main loom you can get exactly this probl;em. Use a circuit diagram and trace each wire in turn using a multi-meter.
