hi, im new to minis and my lovely mini has tyre problems , we recently had the supsension and ball joints replaced but the tracking was miles out this caused the tyres at the front to wear massively the tyres 165 60 12 , the problem is no where local stocks them(staffordshire) one garage supplies 165 70 12 they advised me to swap the rear wheels which are fine and they will then replace the tyres that will now be on the back of the car does this seem right. thanks.

Swapping the rears to the front is common on front drive cars - especially light ones like Minis, as the rear tyres get very little wear compared to the fronts, so it stops you ending up with very old tyres on the rear.

165 70 12s should be OK, but might push your speedo out a little (less than 5% by my calculations) - given the slightly erratic nature of many Mini speedos this may not be a problem.

Order the tyers on line and then get them fitted. Some companys may even have a fitter near you. Normly only takes 2-3 days to get them. Mini sport, mini spairs etc may even be able to next day dilivery.
