95 SPI we have put an alarm bypass box in and all works as it should. Turn the key fires up first go and then dies after a few seconds. Try again and will not start, wait a short while and it starts but dies. Help as starting to lose patience. Thanks

Does the immobiliser cut the fuel supply on SPi's?

Take a look here, this will prove very useful:

that is the imobiliser cutting the pump off

when it stalls and you turn the ignition off, then on the pump will run and prime the system, then once it starts the pump doesnt run (if you stand near the open boot you wont hear it running)

you can get round it, but thats not really for open discussion........

Just been thinking as you do. Does the alarm bypass box not remove all immobiliser functions. It was bought from Mini Mail in Gloucster.

from working on mighty minis, we used to do away with the imobilisers and alarms as they caused so many problems - particually when swopping the ecus about.

we also found it handy to have the provision to be able to run the pump as and when we wanted for the purposes of draining fuel samples off and testing fuel pressures.

the ecu is a simple beast, it will simply sense that there is something wrong with the feed its getting from the alarm/imobiliser and is going into its default mode when a problem like this is recognised - i.e it thinks its been stolen

there is a huge problem at the moment with people ordering the keys from internet sites by simply noting down the vin number on the glass, then disabeling the alarm and driving the car away!

someone i know has just had their car nicked and when it was recovered there was a full set of new keys (door and ignition) still in the ignition lock - the only reason they got it back was that the people who had stole it hit a kerb hard enough for the fuel pump trip to activate

probably best to contact mini mail for their input

I have been in contact with Mini Mail and they sent me another box thinking the first to be faulty. The second box still does the same. This problem has only recently arisen before this the car was perfect.

your other option would be to refit the alarm box, get a plip (or two) and contact this company

http://www.tech-tronics.co.uk/index.asp

they sell a one use tool that will allow you to code your car to a plip

from memory the thing they sell costs about 70quid
