The water pump must be working as if it wasn't the engine would overheat.
Have you tried connecting a hose onto one end of the heater pipe, taking the rad cap off and running water through the heater. this way you'll be checking the flow capability of the heater matrix and expelling any air.

Thank you..I beleave that worked. I've tried the hoses coming from and to the heater but never the radiator. There was quiet a bit of air in there as it took a few seconds to overflow. I have heat now. Thank you
