Desperately seeking....

Firstly I will apologise in case there is a thread like this already running..

Has anyone got any suggestions on how I can trace my first car a Morris Mini, British Racing Green, white roof & bonnet stripes, ULN 183M. It was rebuilt for me for my 17th birthday so holds sentimental value.
Realistically I never should have sold it but I needed a bigger car to take all my stuff to uni & back & now I am in a position with funds I would like to buy it back or at least keep in touch with the owners so it doesn't get scrapped.
So far I have written to the person I sold it to with no response & have written to the DVLA (duly including their completed form for such an application & cheque) but been told its illegal to make a false statement to gain someones personal details (which really hurt considering it was my car & I'm not making anything up) Are there any other avenues I can try?

its currently insured and taxed, so its still been used!

yeah i checked that it was taxed, has been off the road for abit though as the tax isn't in sync with when i had it & its not 6 months out either.

just want to know where it is
