They had the red one out at castle combe, I was very disappointed by the way in was going on track, wasn’t sure if it was lack of driver ability or if it was just too much of a handful to drive quickly but wasn’t going quick at all when I was watching, there were a few VTEC cars though that were very quick.
In the Dec '03 they have a white one thats been done to look like a normal mini but with just the one in the back.
Normal option £4K, race (MUCH lighter) £5K plus the cost of the engine. £2400 for a ZX12R or Busa (which you can wind up to over 300bhp by all accounts).
So if you go mad its going to be £7400 for the bits plus carbon bits to drop the weight.
Perfect weight distribution and 60 in 4 by all accounts...
When you weigh it up against £2K for the subframe and £3-4K for a B16C6 Spec R lump it doesnt look too bad.
But is 180bhp in a 575kg car enough?

Sounds like fun
The only thing is, my flame cost £350, then a metro engine comes in at around £100, then other bits and pieces come to a few hundred, its great fun, I can drive it to the station and not worry too much about it, if it goes bang its next to nothing to fix. I’ll probably spend max of £500 on the engine when I build up my other 1275, that’ll still put a big smile on your face when you drive it.

Very true indeed and thats what we will probably get whilst my trusty silver steed gets the angle grinder treatment depending on which way I go.
Started looking at Cooper Sport 500's and then swiftly stopped again when I found their residual busting residuals!
Who says 3 Minis arent pratical for a family?

Just been Looking at one of these, a silver one @ Holeshot Racing in Leeds they are putting a Busa turbo into it , Thats 350 hp in a mini ( Now thats power to weight ???)
By all accounts 450 is achieveable as well.
450bhp in a Caterfield or even a Mini I would like to see.
Double the power weight of an R500?
Make that £6K ish for the engine

300bhp in a RWD Mini (for substantially less than the £32K that other chap spent!)

ive just finished one of the conversions, but its cost me just short of £10k ( including full respay etc, spend so much, may as well spend a bit more and do it right!).
did the work myself but zcars do offer to fit it for you and for a fitted kit ( not including all the finishings eg bulk heads etc) kit + R1 engine+ fitment is around the 7 to 8 k mark, well worth it if you think the car will do 0-60 in 4 secs and top out at 120 mph.
keep an eye out as they are also producing a front engine kit ( less interior mods, can keep the car more standard looking)
if anybody wants more info email me through my profile
