I've just ordered my new Mini and have asked for a sun roof to be put in. Has anyone got one in theirs? Any problems with it at all?

Thanks!

Go for it!

Got one in mine, its the business, best tilt and slide sunroof on any car ever I reckon.

The demonstrator we borrowed for a week had one, I did like it, the only thing is they only come in black, which is ok if you have a black roof but do look a bit silly on a car with a white/body coloured roof.

Yeah good point.

They do need a black roof...

I've just seen one with the union jack as the sun roof - very smartly done.

Very smart indeed, especially given the BMW told me it couldnt be done!

Right, silver union flag it is!

I'm having mine put on a white roof which I think looks great... The white bonnet stripes seem to balance out the lack of white on the roof!

What colour car are you going for? I do prefer the roof in black although when ours was white it did stand out more.

Just looked at your profile...

S Works eh?

You must come back and review it when you get it...

I am *this* close to calling BBR and risking the warranty...

Yeah the S Works arrives just after Christmas - should keep away the post Christmas blues I think! I've ordered red with white roof, no body kit as my insurance went through the (white, panoramic) roof! I'll let you know all about her. Selling my current Cooper in a couple of weeks...

Well the S is suprisingly fun I have to say, the conversions though I reckon will just give it that extra push up to 11.

Red, white, union flag sounds like a nice combo...

Nice choice, like my old one I’d have an S in dark blue with a black roof.

So Plotloss you want more power already? The £1200 conversion is tempting, keep suggesting it to Jane, she said she’d like a track day for Christmas so maybe if I get her one she’ll decide it needs more power and splash out on the conversion

Yeah, finding it a bit sluggish (no shock there!) and it really lacks something in the low middle.

Get it going though and its a right little rocket.

From what I am hearing the warranty problem isnt really a problem at all, remaps are now available by all accounts and it would be unlucky for a BMW tech to spot you are running a -17% pulley...

Plotless do you reckon you'll get the BBR? Is it the warranty stopping you?

I can't wait - have got a day at Goodwood in February so had better have her run in by then...

Well warranty and the fact that I have only had the S for 5 days.

Its lacking something though, the chassis far outclasses the engine...

I was talking to Mike Cooper, he said the ECU is programmable so can be easily remapped, surely a pulley then remap at somewhere like power engineering wouldn’t cost £1200 but would still get the same sort of gains?

Aha! Well give yourself a month and then decide.. Mind you if you've only had it 5 days and you're already thinking about it then all you're going to do is decide which upgrade to get!

For all you guys thinking of an upgrade but don't want to fork out for Works - try Digi-tec. I'm sure they tested one on Top Gear recently.
The thing is - I did some research about Digitec recently as I was thinking about a power hike for my other car. They have teamed up with an insurance company who will cover your engine for very little costs. I think it was only about £100 for 2 years cover.. That should take the sting out of any possible engine trouble worries.
In the end I didn't upgrade the other car but don't let that put you off!
I have details of Digi-tec if anyone is interested. In fact, I got an email from the owner of the company, Michael Pollmueller, (In Germany) which I will happy to pass on if anyone wants it.
