Hello, I'm just putting in an enquiry as to where is the best place to look for a standard '91 Mini Cooper 4-speed gearbox. I've been suggested an internet breaker, but is there anywhere that anyone can suggest? Any info about anything would be helpful.

the only mini breaker i know of is john at mini classics

01909 591065

recon boxes are always a awkward thing to price as the bits alone to do the job correctly are about 150-200 quid, plus when i do them its about 24 hours of work, so labour is a lot (i wont do them for retail customers, its just not worth the hassle)

i can never work out how people can offer a 'recon' box for 150 quid - i think the key is in the word 'con'

;)

He is superb. He has done two boxes for me. His normal cash price is about £250. He actually recons boxes for the mini trade but dont tell any one.

I've used him before, can't say I'd agree with you, I had to take mine back to him because the bearings failed and it locked up completely, he wouldn't have any of it, and told me to go elsewhere.
