I used to live in Stanmore, N.W. London. As a child, I remember seeing on many occasions a Mini that used to be parked outside a house on Old Church Lane. The bodywork was covered in coins, that as far as I can recall, were like really old 50p pieces, but all coloured an antique bronzey-gold. The coins were not arranged haphazardly; rather, they tessalated somehow, giving the car the impression of being covered in scales.

Does anyone else remember this car, or know what happened to it?

Ta!

Genius!

The penny lane mini is now in Jersey, at one of the Jersey Pearl outlets. I was so excited when I first saw it. Not sure about the mini in the OP though.

I remember I used to walk past it in the ‘70s on my way home from school. Parked outside a quaint old house called the tithe barn (I think). Also parked there was a green Daimler 2 seater convertible roadster

I last saw it on display at the Royal Mint in S. Wales... Summer 2016 IIRC.
