Similar to the "springs" thread but the opposite way.

I am tempted by the Smootha ride kit to improve my mini comfort levels. I am a little unsure though if they are really worth it and if they make that much difference?

Anyone out there running these on their mini?

I was a passenger in a friends's car that had it fitted, we did the 300 mile round trip to the London to Brighton ...very comfortable and not quite as bouncy as hydrolastic , but it did loose a bit of the legendary mini handling ...not much ...but to much for me biggrin

Well, two years on I decided to take the plunge and do the job:

I can tell you that she's now a good 2"s taller and has SOME suspension travel! which is a novelty in itself biggrin

From Left to Right: Front 'Smootha Ride' Cone, Standard Cone for the rear and on the right the old front cone which was absolutely solid!

Whether or not the ride is smoother than if I have simply renewed to standard rubbers I don't know - what I can say is that this is an improvement and hasn't ruined the handling at all.

In fact it might even be better???

Yeah definately more roll! I guess I'll get used to that? although I think I would like to retract the comment about the handling almost being better biggrin

On a day to day basis and when ambling along with our two kids, the good wife and myself + boot load this kit is awesome, lovely ride, very comfortable and clears almost everything.

On my own pushing on a bit? NO, not even nearly - I doubt this will be our last Mini and I'm glad I kept the old cones for the 'kart like' set up biggrin
