As there seems to be quite a bit of interest in Minis, I thought I would start a thread to see what everone has lurking in their garage.

I start the ball rolling with my project which is a '79 1100 special. It has been completely de-seamed, resprayed in Jag BRG. It has a 1310 lump with all the bits on and is running 10 inch rims on cooper S discs.

Still got quite a lot of work left to do but the motor is running and the clutch and brakes work. I am planning to hillclimb it and maybe do a few track days.

What's everyone else got then????

My flame will be getting 13's, sports pack arches, 1275 poss 1380 engine.

I have a coupe mini, which has been in bits for about 9 years, maybe one day it’ll see the light of day.

My equinox is up for sale, not much of a project but was cursing on Saturday when I went to adjust the rear breaks and found one ceased adjuster, a leaking wheel cylinder and the other adjuster had already been snapped off, that took all afternoon top replace the back plates and get it all working properly!

My clubman was a freebie but to good to scrap.

Then there are the other 2 mmm I have to many minis!

Just got my boy back on the road!

Currently sourcing an Integra Type R lump as am probably going to go for the Watsons Rally drive in scream out conversion.

Chrome 7x13 Minilites
Group 5 Arches (maybe sportspack, cant decide)
Loads of chrome
Colour scheme undecided between dark silver, black roof and spats a la new Cooper S and old english white with a single blue and single red pinstripe off centre to the left.
Leather interior as soon as I work out how to fit RS Turbo Recaros onto the floor!

All to fill the void of the lack of TVR!

Matt.

Excellent, good to see some other people have Minis lurking.

Paul, mine has been stuck in the garage for about the same amount of time. Hopefully I'll get it going this year (but then I do say that every year!).

Plotloss, a Teg engine in a Mini sounds lethal, would love to see that when it's finished. I have to say I would go with the old english white, maybe you should consider painting it Honda Championship white as you have Honda bits going on?

Here's a pic of my work in progress:

Hmmmnn Honda Championship White...

Now thats an idea!

Yeah there are a few conversions with the VTEC around at the moment. I got the idea from a GRP and ally spaceframe mini with a supercharged 16v vauxhall lump at the Mini Showdown in '96. Absolutely hilarious on the sunday, it was seeing off Cossies!

I still have a highly modified 1965 Cooper S which I Sprinted and Hillclimbed in the 80's. At the time I was sponsored by what is now MED, who supplied me with a superb 1300 motor (had to be this size for the class)
which showed 123bhp at the wheels, revved to 9000 and was unburstable. The shell needs a couple of patches after 15 years in the garage, but was never welded before. It is fully rosejointed, 4 pot brakes, 7.5 x 13 Splitrims, Dog Box, Quaife LSD etc. It started last year (eventually) and was a bit smoky (always was) so I pulled the motor out to send to MED for a rebuild. At this point I lost interest again, and the engine has gone nowhere. I must get on with it !! Those of you into Minis may recognise the car - It was tested in CCC many years ago, along with other Scottish competition road cars. It was painted in a pearlescent pink/purple colour and had a couple of double page colour pics in Mini World mag over the years. I was told that in 1987 it was the most successful car in any form of motorsport in Scotland, with the most wins and new records. It held the 1300 Road Car record at Doune Hillclimb for 9 years after I stopped using it. I must stop as I can feel the enthusiasm building again and that inevitably leads to huge expense and hours in the garage !!

Just noticed this forum had appeared! Anyway, I odn't have a mini at the moment, but I've owned around 6 of them so far. Thought you may be interested in a friends mini. It's a Mk3 shell with a 1380 intercooled turbo blowing through a 45DCOE Dellorto. Not finished yet, but running.

I thought the limit for a blown motor was 1330cc? The 1380 turbo must be a flier!

I've got a Mk3 Mini lying at the back of the garage which I'm doing up bit by bit and which will eventually be fitted with a 1330/1380 lump. At the current rate of work the car will be finished by 2014.

My Mini project: it's all on my website Fatboy's Mini Project

It Started life as a 1989 998cc Mini Mayfair (Last owner was John Nettles - he lived a few miles from my parents in Warwickshire) which was my bother's first car. He ran it (unbelieveably hard) for about 3 years, then eventually blew it up It then sat in my parent's garage for about a year until they moved and I decided to do it up.

It's got an MG Metro 1275 engine, fibreglass flip-front, fibreglass doors, polycarbonate windows, full Safety Devices Multipoint roll cage (bolt in) Stripped out interior, bucket seats and harnesses.

I've still got the MG Metro brakes to fit, a new dash to make (going to make a custom one out of fibreglass) a load of rewiring to do and numerous other bits and bobs (like getting the fuel tank back in so I can fire it up for the first time in 9 months).

Mine's a 1986 Mini City, with a half cage, bucket seats, uprated brakes, Downton 1310cc, looks completely standard, 85bhp on Mr Baldwin's rolling road, BRILLIANT FUN,

Done on a budget, total cost is approx £1000 including buying the car & all the bits!

Talk about "bangs for your buck!"

I will hopefully be blowing the budget later this year with a nitrous kit, respray & alloys!

Anything else I've missed....

It's back & driving really well - thank you for asking.

Phoenix Minis in Ipswich have done a brilliant job of recommissioning & MOT'ing my Mini. (Albeit a £660 invoice!)

I will try to post some piccys soon, but it really is no looker!!!

Looks like (what it is!) - a slightly tatty 1986 City in red, with brighter red doors & bonnet (these were changed for the MOT - S/H items) I even still have the standard steel wheels!

Great for terrorising the Lax Bowels Novas & Saxos!!!

On a "private test track" it will pull round to H on the speedo (numbers stop at 90!), and makes a GREAT noise doing so......

If you are ever in the Ipswich area, drop me a mail, and you can see the "beast" in the flesh!!!!

Hi Matt, I think I have met you.....

Looking at your site, your Westie looks very familiar, was it you at the ECMC Sizewell Autotest last year, (when the bloke in the Reliant SS1 lost it....)

It was me who had the Smart there....

If it was you, I've still got the piccys of you sideways in the Westfield somewhere!!

Best Wishes,

Chris.

PS: If you're Autotesting tomorrow, Good Luck. (I'm at Work - Boo.)

Hi Chris indeed that was me! Funnily enough I was thinking of those photos just the other day, I'ld
LOVE a copy. Unfortunetly I didn't make the test
either, but I will the next one....

The Maroon 1380 won again with a westy second and
my mate in his 998 mini third. Minis ruled that
day apparently.

I'm pretty sure I have a big valve rimflow stage II head for a 1400 A series in my loft - never got round to fitting to my Mini project years ago before it got nicked. Don't know if it'd still be any use after 20 years, but if anyone's interested I could dig it out next time I'm home.
