Wd40 or silicone spray, lubricate the channel up nicely, take a block of very soft wood, something like rough pine and a medium hammer and hently tap the finisher in to place.
Sounds crazy but i've done it on about 20 mini's which I have resprayed and if your gentle it works brilliantly.
You do sometimes need to start it off with a screwdriver to tease the rubber over the start of the strip.

WD40 and a coathanger twisted into a diamond like the tool. Worked a treat, front and back. And for the areas that didn't quite go in - a gentle tap in with a mallet as suggested. Thanks guys.
Still can't open that chuffing door tho. The mechanism is still locked in place and I have tried everything.
