Diesel engine for a classic mini?
Discussion
Stop laughing! I've been away for ages with one thing and another, so nice to be back. One of the ongoing projects at home now is biodiesel, and I was wondering if any of you guys and girls have heard of any other nutters who have fitted diesel engines into minis? Think 50-60 miles per gallon at £1.50 a gallon... Many thanks!
BMC did a diesel version of the A series for use on small tractors IIRC. Think it's on www.austin-rover.co.uk ?
23bhp or so might not be enough though.....

yup, I reckon 23hp might not cut it
The A series tractor (BMC mini) was 15hp if memory serves, used to have one. Then upgraded to the new Nuffield 4/25 with the B series block and 25hp. I have seen a mini pickup with one of these motors, A series I think. It was not too slow, Good torque.
