Cheap way to loose weight (for your mini)
Discussion
I've been helping with the the primary stages of a mid engined mini build, we'd cut the back out and I suggested removing all the soundproofing baked onto the floor to loose weight. He said although he doesn't need the soundproofing it wasn't worth the effort, and it would take ages.
Anyway i convinced him and between us with a couple of builders chisel's we chipped it all off in 45 minutes.
I filled a bag with it, and weighed it 6kg! And that was just the front, on a complete mini this must weigh in at about 9kg! Definitely worth the effort. I had no idea soundproofing was so heavy.
Cheers, Mark

Mr Foster, do you have anything better to do than bugger about on the internet?
Talking of Mk1 stuff, my shed burned down the other day and a whole lot of period stuff got torched, including some nice magnesium wheels. A real shame.
Neville Trickett used to sand metal off his shell for racing!!

I did this, or rather my grandson did this, when we were building my black Enduro Rally Mini.
We collected all the bits and it weighed nearly 20 kg with the underfelt and other sound deadening material. Remember it's not only on the floors, it's on the rear seat base as well.
Well wirth the saving.
