Looking to buy a Mini
Discussion
I bought my 66 on here, fully restored shell, running hydro suspension and the original engine for £1500. I ditched the subframes and put dry suspension on it, etc, etc, etc and now it's a different car completely, grunty 1380 in there at the moment I got for £350. 10" wheels are a must as are S Discs.
Get a Mk1, preferably a pre 64 one with the original dry suspension. They are so much more like minis than the later ones. If you look in the right place, you'll get a good one for your budget. They do keep coming up.
I've spent the last 6 months driving a saxo which I thought was quite a Go Kart, forgot how it felt to drive a mini, flashed it up yesterday and remembered. It's a crazy machine and you just can understand how well it goes around corners. It's hell of a fast!
Try www.findit.co.uk www.adtrader.co.uk and www.miniclassic.co.uk I would stay well away from ebay. The magazines are quite good as well.

hey ho good luck in your search (ps buy minimag )
How the bloody hell have you managed that?
:faints:
a mate of mine has an incredible original old mini for sale, its a 93-K 1.3 auto, its only done 10,000 miles, we know its genuine because it was owned by an elderly relative! (and because its in timewarp condition).
He wants more than £2,000 but he may be open to offers as he's just bought a newer car, the mini passed its mot in Jan and has some tax as well.
if its of interest get in touch will ask himn for a low price.

I've just put one of mine on eBay.
It's more than you're looking to spend, but you will struggle to find a better one.
Classic insurance and tax exempt, too....
