Youve probably heard this loads b4 but new to the mini seen. Got it last year and just passed my test so thought about some mods. Just a couple of questions:
1) Does puttin 13 inch wheels that are 165 or 175 affect handling? Does it make it worse or better and do they give huge amount more grip than the skinny 12s. Im not to worried about ride quality. Also does body need cuttin for all 13 inchers.
2) Thinkin of putting cobra racing seats in. Once in is there any way of getting in back seats other than clambering over them or does the fitting kit allow movement.
Any answers would be greatly appreciated as hopin to get a load done after my exams. Might have to tackle insurance tho.

Congratulations on passing
It's generally considered that 13" wheels make the handling worse and yes you'd need to do some work on the wings. I've never done it but I'm sure someone else will explain what's involved.
Any high back seats do make getting in the back a PIA.
We have a pair of Mambas in my sons car(like Cobras) and it's just about possible, but not easy, to squeeze thro!! They'll only tip forward a few inches before they hit the roof.

i use cobra seats in mine and use the mini specific subframe with locking tilt, to be honest the seat hardly tilts back enough to let people through, so ive kept my original mini seats and when i know if im going to have another person in the back then i will put the old passenger seat in to make things easier (but then again i dont have any rear seats etc so they sit on bare metal!! lol)
10 inch wheels all the way aswell

Do most mini specialists do the special subframe with locking tilt
Yes but they also often do a cheaper one that doesn't lock, be careful - depending on the age of your car it can fail the MOT if the seats tip forward freely.

13" wheels offer stunning levels of grip but at the expense of ride quality and handling...don't confuse handling with grip! personally, I think they look fantastic so that's what I have - might be tempted with some 10" cosmics though!
I have corbeau forzas in mine, they tip forward a little but i've had my subframes moved back a bit for more legroom, also they hardly fitted in the car so I had them moved inwards about 1.5" each which has made them a lot more comfortable - it removes the offset effect of the steering wheel

Im just about to redo my interior of my 1275.
Im going for a rear roll cage. Sparco buckets (non-tilting), luke harnesses, opm steering wheel and a big tachometer on the top of the dash.
On my car I'm running 12x165 yokohama tyres and I've not driven a car which is as responsive or has handling which is as usuable in todays road conditions.
Stick with 12's also for speedometer readings and accelaration.

I've just put 13's on mine andhave had to cut the arches out. I downloaded an arch template kit and used that. You've just got to be careful and take your time to make sure you don't bend the metal. Well worth it for the look though IMO.
I've got cobra monaco seats in mine and have taken the back seats out cos theres not much point in leaving them in. The seats touch are on tilting frames but move about 2 inches then touch the roof so it makes no difference. I squeeze into the back sometimes to work on the car and its a right pain in the bum and difficult to get in. IMO if you put in high back buckets in you sacreifice the back seats. Why not go for low back buckets?

clubman seats are high back and are alot bigger than you imagine. They take up alot of the car and are almost wedged in next to the door pillar. Low back buckets hold you in well but take way less room and look more retro, I think. The low backs are the classics yeah. Just depends what look you're going for and how often you'll be taking passengers. The general idea is if you put high backs in then the car becomes a two seater.
Fiesta Callipers and 10" wheels.
6 point cage,
Cheapo hilos and bottom arms/rods/brackets from Huddersfield spares, a set of spax.
Rear anti-roll bar.
That will make a 998 City E handle properly, sort the handling out and then stuff a silly engine in it. MG Metro is a good starting point. Get a 12HF01 (unleaded)

If your after some seats that are both comfty and practicable why not get some seats from a metro similar to these

They are bucket style but as they fold in the middle and slide forward and tip forward getting into the back is pretty simple. Also can adust the agle of the back and mine have adjustable lumber support too. Like i say very comforty and pretty good for getting in the back too.
