steering problem (gone very light)

hi after a month running sports pack 6x13s on my 1989 mini the steering has gone very light . it is like driving on pure ice there is know feel on the steering wheel at all i can turn the wheel with one finger and the smallist of bumps will send the steering wheel moving left or right i have looked at the following

1/ tyre pressures the tyres on the front are as new and are running a 29 psi

2/ wheel berring no play top to bottom or side to side

3/ brakes all good

4/ top and bottom ball pins no play

5/ there is very small play in the steering rack

i know the shocks are a bit soft but would this make the steering light
HELP PLEASE as i would love to drive my mini again but at the mo it is just to scary thanks David

Camber issue?

can the camber just alter as it has been fine for four weeks

Have you replaced the ball joints recently?

no there is no play in them. but can they still be worn out?
