Ive got a 1990 rover cooper, now in bits, complete with roll cage, buckets, recently rebuilt 1380 motor with sccr box, 296 cam, wedged crank etc etc etc etc, 10" wheels, 4 pots, fully adjustable suspension etc etc etc... Problem was it was getting a bit tatty, the usual rust and never got the it running that sweet with that cam and twin SUs.

Its in brother in laws workshop, who's a welder and loves doing up minis, and also second home of another mate who loves doing up minis.

Problem is i'm a lazy git and havent found the time to get on with the restoration. Ive also lacked a bit of vision as to what to do with it, bit bored of the standard black and white paint scheme. I'd quite like a tax exempt shell to get round the emissions issue and less clutter (side repeaters, fog light etc) and go for a retro racer look.

The other plan for my shell was to fit miglia arches, ditch the white roof and get a really glossy black 2pack respray, with miglia door squares and other decals, like a road going version of Kimberely's miglia. Just a bit concerened thats too ostentatious for on road parking and attracting the wrong sort of attention. Bung in an airbox for a weber too.

Or i could just sell off all the bits and forget about minis, or maybe buy a tidy standard Studio a mate is selling, which i could stick the roll cage in, and the 10"s, and the engine...

What would you do?

My brother had a Mini with old English white body and black vinyl roof which I thought looked excellent.

You might find some inspiration at www.minicolours.co.uk

I've always liked W&P arches although you might struggle to get it looking right with 10s. Personally, I would stick with it if only to keep another one on the road. You might get lucky and find a top notch shell somewhere, but you could equally end up with just as much work to do on another car. At least you know what needs doing to this one, and it sounds like you can get the help you need to finish off the welding work.
