quick brake question
Discussion
i've just finished rebuilding and fitting some cooper S discs on my mini and they work well but if you put the brakes on hard it pulls to the left and i cant really fathom why.
anyone got any ideas?
oh yeah its running EBC green stuff and four groove discs and they have got about 6miles on in total.

my car randomly pulls to the left, sometimes the right, and often straight ahead...I've come to the conclusion that it's just mini brakes with a mind of their own
it's worse in the wet though, I was told by a former mini engineer that this is because water gets inbetween the pad and discs causing one side to lose friction seems a bit dangerous though!

I have had this problem a couple of times in the last 3 years. The first time was on a Mini pick-Up and after bleeding and re-adjusting the twin leading-shoe front brakes I changed all the wheel cylinders. It made no difference. Then I changed the flexibles and this cured it.
Then, last year I had the same problem with a Fiesta 1.6 Si. Again I changed the calipers but it didn't cure it, so I changed the flexibles and, Bo's your uncle. I would change the flewxibles on the car in question to Aeroquips from Mini Spares. I bet that cures it.
Bleeding will not normally make any difference as with air in the system the pedal will just go down until the pressures at each caliper/wheel cylinder.
are all equal.
One other question. Have you bedded the EBC pads in properly? If not, that could be causing the problem. EBC are not really hard pads and you don't normally get the sort of grabbing you can get with proper competition pads that ae not bedded-in properly.Personally I'm not a great fan of EBC and the carbon-metallic pads Mini Spares do are much, much better for all fast applications with a better wear rate as well.

Give them a good bedding in by driving along in 3rd at about 50 mph, give it full throttle and hold the speed at 50 by braking with your left foot for about 1/4 mile. Let them cool down and do this about 3 or 4 more times. Then let them cool and then drive the car hard on a twisty road with lots of braking. That will bed them in properly. You may have to adjust the rears after doing this.
The hoses you have don't come much better, so it won't be them.
