Did I over bid?

Hi all
I made the silly mistake of bidding on something I didn’t look at properly. Was on the auction and the item I wanted sold for a lot more then I was hoping to pay
Then this popped up, seemed cheap and I clicked bud…. 🤦🏽 I know stupid of me!!!
So anyway I brought this, with the mindset of making a quick small profit! Looks a little more crispy then the cover picture.
They say it’s running but will it get an MOT? Do I take my losses and put it straight back in to the auction or is it worth the punt?
It’s a British open edition with a million owners
It owes me £3500 to my door

I’ve no idea about values but if it’s just the sills it’s not the end of the world. Having had Minis of that era (and still having a really old one) if it’s also doors, A posts and the floor things could really add up.

Really can’t say if you’ve overpaid but if you like the car, it’s worth fixing. Remember, there will never be any new ones built (apart from ridiculously overpriced toys for millionaires) so you are a custodian of something of historical significance.

In two minds about keeping it. It was going to be a project but I don't have the facilities, time or expertise to get to work on this.
Also the DVLA have been on strike so I am awaiting my logbook. It's been nearly 2 months.
After that, there is a worry that it would become a donor car for a crazy customised Mini. That would be a shame where classic Minis are increasingly scarce.
I can supply photos to anyone interested, but I'd be keen to hear as well from those who gave any knowledge to share.

As a guide for prices I had my mini sorted a few years ago. It looked like this when it went away
It didnt' look too bad but it needed. Front panel, wings, bonnet, A panels, scuttle, dash rail. inner and outer cills, door skins, lower part of the rear 3/4 panel on both sides and rear valance. A full respray and it cost around £7k to get that all done.

It's absolutely mint though now but it's amazing how much rust can be lurking in there

Where are you based? I'm in West Yorkshire.
Still, £7,000 for all that doesn't sound too bad at all if it's a specialist doing it.
Was yours so bad it was deemed to be going to be a re-shell?
How about interior and mechanical work?How much did that come to?
I can DM you some photos, but I'm in two minds about it generally.
If I did keep it and restore it to original spec (I wouldn't have it any other way, and certainly wouldn't want it becoming a custom sports car given how finite these things are), I would keep it as a long-term asset.
It was done by Coventry classic minis. It was back in 2016 though so prices have probably gone up a bit now.

It looked fairly good when it went in, it was only once the angle grinder started to cut things out.
Whatever way you take yours is entirely up to you unless it’s a limited edition if you modify them it’s Unlikely to affect its value.

If you assume £10k is the absolute upper end of these, and this one owes you £3.5km assuming you want to make a bit of profit on it then you've got to get it all fixed to perfection for £5.5k.
