I would guess not, can you fit harnesses instead? Are you fitting a cage?

You can but leave a goodly amount of metal.

Why do you want to cut them? To get larger seats in?

Yes to fit cage, or fitting lower but further back seat. basically i have no use for rear seat bin. Can i weld a sheet of thick metal on pillar and the floor. and mount the seat thingy that pull the seat belt in on it?

I think I would be more inclined to cut the bin, leave the metal around the belt point and reinforce it with more metal of the same size rather than cut and reweld a bit in.

I've got a SD 6 point in my 66 and I didn't have to cut the bins, am I missing something?

Have to retain the bins in my rally cars to meet the regs and I also have cages in both. It's a bit difficult to drill off for the 'B-Post' cage legs with them inside the bins, but not impossible. The difficult bit is holding the bolt heads to tighten them up really tight.

I think one trick is to get a long punch (or extend a short punch) and with a goodly whack mark the hole centres from the inside, then drill through from the outside. I havent tried this, i removed the bins and fitted harnesses.

If you've got a lower brace bar (which also mounts on the exhaust tunnell), as on my SD multipoint cage, it requires removal of the bins

No, I reckon you go much more than a 6 point and it makes your car too heavy

A couple of extra metal bars is inconsequential compared to lugging my fat arse around

Damm,

Beat me to it - I've cut the bins out in my new build as well as the rear seat squab and seem welded the edge to allow more cross members.

I reckon that the impact of my weight plus rally car needs the extra bars if I have to stop suddenly.....!
