Just thought I would put a few pics of my newly acquired mine, belonged to a chap local to me he owned it for about 4 years but not knowing about cars spent a fortune getting it sorted,it was then parked up a year ago a few weeks ago he contacted me and said I could have it cheap result... I've done a lot of work to it but it's now getting there. Just fitted a dim exhaust
And sump guard this weekend I changed the oil but alas the sump bung won't tighten up so I've ordered a repair bung from mini spare hope it works

Stripped sump bung threads are a common issue.

A helcoil is the correct repair but I have used the MS tapered repair bung before and it does work but be really careful fitting it - easy does it in small stages otherwise you will have an expensive engine out repair on your hands.

It still weeped slightly but PTFE tape helps.

Looks nice, I had a Mini Piccadilly as my first car, always loved them when I was growing up and my parents surprised me with one they got from a friend when I was learning to drive, sadly it was lost to very bad rust on the sills/subframe so didn't last long on the road, but I got to learn in it for a while at least and then rally it around the dirt tracks/fields which was great fun!

I will get another someday for sure, they are too much fun!

Have you heard of mighty car mods on youtube before?
They recently did a vtech mini that they imported from Japan to Australia, it looks great and the show is a good watch if your interested (as are their other videos):

Sounds like you have a good history with minis so this one should be in good hands then! Must have been great having them as company cars too!

The guy near you sounds mad, a vtech would be fast enough as it is without a turbo! Would love to have a go in that.

Good work on the sump repair too thumbup

Doesn't sound good! Any idea what is causing it? Typical it happens when you least want it to on the way to a show!

Good luck getting it sorted.
