Hello all,
More fuse woes I'm afraid, this time the fuse for the rear lights keeps blowing the instant I put a new one in.

All other fuses are fine, all the bulbs are working, I've cleaned the fuse box thoroughly but the minute I put a new fuse in and switch the lights on the fuse for the rear lights blows out.

Can anyone offer advice please?

On the plus side she's getting a new stereo today, although why the g/f wants to hear anything other than the Janspeed is beyond me.

On mine it's a different fuse to the indicators/hazards, they stopped working briefly but after cleaning the fuse box all was well again!

Silly question, but are you using the correctly rated fuse?

yep, 15A as per the manual.
I know it's not a good idea but I also tried a 35A which blew after about 2 seconds.

Looks like you'll have to do it the hard way with a circuit tester. Work from the lights themselves. Remove the fuse, switch on and test the circuit. It should draw in the region of 30 amps with the 4 sidelights and instrument lights. More than 50 amps and you have a current drain to earth. Disconnect each light unit in turn and re-try. If it still 'shorts', use the circuit diagram to get to the next junction point and disconnect that. Keep doing this until the meter reads normally. The short is then in the bit of circuit you last isolated. Once you've isolated the problem it should be easy to rectify with new wiring or parts if needed.
