works rally dash?
Discussion
I'm trying to find a company that still produces the works rally dashes. these are the two metal boxes that go on driver and passenger side. mini spares used to make them but they have now seemingly stopped.
does anyone know of someone that still makes them? and if not has anyone got a template for them?

You could try Trevor Godwin at Coventry Motorsport, but I don't have his number to hand.
Personally I have never liked the 'works' dash panels. They always seem a bit scruffy to me, but I used to work on the design of aircraft instrument panels many years ago, which have to be ergonomically good as well as functional.
I use 16swg aluminium and make up two identical panels, handed, of course, fitting them to the dash rails with rivnuts and black anodised socket head screws/washers. The panels I cover with black leathercloth after cutting all the holes. The switches and instruments are laid out so as to be easily reached and so that you are unlikely to hit the wrong one when hurrying along a special stage. For example, the driver's side washer switch works sideways rather than up and down.

I'm looking at the nicest way to house a few guages/switches. I'm looking at making one up myself and using that black crackle paint. I want it to be less of a box than the works ones. Half the attraction of the mini is the simple dash. Having said, with my latest engine, I have to keep an eye on it otherwise it will explode.

coventry motorsport you say? luck would have it that im at uni in coventry!!! so ill definately look that one up cheers.
I made a mistake, Trevor Godswin's company is Coventry Automotive. I don't have their adress as they have just moved. If you have no luck finding it get back to me.
By the way, Trevor was the last driver to enter a Mini in a WRC Championship rally. He did the Rally Australia last November. That was the last time a Mini was eligible to compete at that level as homologation for WRC events runs out 5 years after the production of a model ceases.
try doreen at mini machine
thats where i got half of one for my car (im using the passenger side one of a lhd car to house the instruments in my rhd car, sounds complicated but i wanted a flat dash and didnt need it to stick out like the old 'normal' right hand side one did, mine has nothing i need to 'reach' when strapped in)
they are one of those things that look really easy to make, until you try!!!
