This might be a bit of a long shot ... I'm asking on behalf of my girlfriend's Uncle, who lives in Canada and restores classic Minis as a hobby. He currently has the shell of a 1979 pick up, which he is rebuilding to 1963 specifications. However he needs a frame for the headliner, which is specific to the pickup truck variant. I don't believe a frame from the van or saloon variants will fit.

Does anyone know where he could source one from?

I'd imagine it's going to be a part that's hard to find. Specialist scrap dealers? Perhaps even buy another pickup for spares/repairs? Alternatively, I don't suppose one could be fabricated? Any help much appreciated! smile

I made one by cutting and shutting a 2 piece saloon headlining.

Use the front section as is, and shorten the rear section.

Not perfect, but better than nowt.

Thanks Woody! Apologies for the late reply, but I've only just seen this! Are there any downsides to this workaround? I've passed your reply on, so I'll see what he says! Cheers! smile

Firstly, it is the metal headliner frame that I am searching for. I have the fabric already.

I also have a set from a van that can be cut up to make a workaround... But this would be my absolute last resort.

I really want the real thing.
I'm trying to help source one, mainly as I'm in the UK and it's easier! However does anyone know where I should look? Scrappy? Classic Mini forums?

Have a chat with Craig at Mini Technique. He has a HUGE stock of 2nd hand Mini parts, and may have one. If he doesn't then he may know someone who does.
