ahhhh! Insurance!!!!!
Discussion
well im now trying to insure my mini with me as the driver now, to try and build up my no claims , i'm 19 and have a years driving behind me with no claims or points, ive got quotes from tesco £1004.35!!!!! direct line wouldnt quote me as i have alloys and wont until im 25 this is all at TPFT can anyone suggest a company which will give me rate which is less than the car is worth at the mo?
When i was looking at elephants 10 months policy i was advised that it only works with elephant, i.e. tesco wouldnt accept it as a full NCB so after a year you wouldnt have any NCB in the eyes of other insurers, so it may be cheaper now but could be a false economy in the long run.
oh and nice mini BTW

Yes, I believe this can be a problem with bonus accelerator policies - you sort of get tied in to the insurer.
ive always used c.i.s insurance for my main road cars, as does my younger bro. maybe not the cheapest, but have a good 'small print' section.
both of my 'nice' minis are insured with lancaster, by far the best of the specalist companys. they have a seperate agreed value dept and actually stand by the values given. i asked some very searching questions of all the so called 'specalist mini insurers' when i first insured my 1071 and got some very interesting and vauge answers as to what they will and will not pay out for in the event of a accident or claim.
remember with insurance, if the company is offering a qoute miles cheaper than anybody else, then they must be cutting corners somewhere. this my not matter when you are paying the premium, but sure as hell makes a differance should you ever need to make a claim!!
my 10p worth!

The only good thing about being old is that I can insure my Minis for very little. My 1964 Cooper 'S' with 112 bhp and full rally prep costs me just over £200 a year and that includes 3rd party cover for rallies as well.
My broker is very good. His name is Colin Higgins of Sharples and Co, tel.no. 01279 653372. He may be able to help. Mention me (Peter Valentine) to him if you call.
