Breaking old clutch mechanism

Hi My pal has a rally tuned competition Mini and recently was sidelined by a broken actuating lever. Happily this was an easy roadside fix using a 2nd hand part as it was the pivoting ball at the tip of the lever which sheared off within the clutch cover housing. The next day, the same thing appeared to have happened or at least the same symptoms arose but this time the cause was terminal as one of the integral cast flanges on the housing itself had cracked and broken off. Where the fulcrum is. It's the pre-Verto type. I was wondering if the Verto version puts less strain on things. I was also wondering if some form of clutch stop can be introduced so that all the power of a strong left leg isn't transmitted into the mechanism. Beyond which is necessary for the heavyish race clutch to disengage.
I've never had that problem in over 50 years of rallying and preparing rally Minis. Yes, I've a ball end fracture, but it was an old arm.
Just buy a new arm and ensure that the clutch overthrow stop is correctly set to avoid inadvertently putting too much shear load on the ball end.
The Verto clutch is not as good for rallying and the flywheel assembly is heavier.
Which clutch diaphragm spring is being used. It may be too heavy. I always use the 'Orange' diaphragm and that is fine for rallying.
