Engine Wanted - Fareham

To cut a long story short, I am looking for a replacement 998 engine for my 72 mini. Preferably a whole engine and gearbox.

My current engine, a A plus, has a gouge on the block between cylinder 1 and 2.

I bought the car 2 months ago to use every day. In theory the engine has just been rebuilt. But within a week it was running rough. Took it to JSW in Waterlooville who charged me a four figure sum to clean the carb, change the needle and move the fuel pump! Within a day the engine stopped, I took it apart and found the problem on the block. I think the previous guy had put a new gasket on the head to sell it on quick!

I know there is a chance I could get the block decked.

But am considering all options up to a new recon for 2 grand.

I still love the car and want to use it!
