Hi, just finished stripping my 1971 clubman for restoration and found it to be unrepairable, it is so rusty and had so many panels welded on top of each other, so I am on the lookout for a good solid shell not fussed about panel damage, has anyone got one?

It's not unrepairable it just needs a Ed China or a Bill Richards. Unfortunately though finding one is either expensive or rare. Much like the shell your looking for. eBay is probably the best bet or a local mini club. Best of luck.

Apologies if stating something you already knew, but you can buy a brand new body shell from BMHT. They cost about £6600 including vat.

have a look on the "mini forum" for sale section (if you haven't already). Quite a good turn over of cars and shells being sold on there

Just remember if you use a later Mk4 shell or a Heritage one (nothing like original) you'll no doubt devalue your finished car.As bad as you might think your shell is it'd be worth giving it to an expert to repanel as it's an early type.

Hi, thanks for the replies, a new shell is not on my list as nice as it would be, I would prefer a early car/shell to work on, I can not explain how bad my shell is,I have owned over 30 minis and worked on many more and never seen worse than this only in a scrap yard even the cross member holding the seats in has no bottom, I was sold a kipper on ebay (my own fault for not viewing the car first) another lesson learnt! (the car had 5 months MOT when I bought it)
Cheers Dave.

If the roof and B pillars are fine the rest can be replaced.
