Hi All,
Have just bought my son a nice 1996 Mini Sprite, have got quoted just over £500 to insure him as a 17 year old learner with me and his mother as named drivers which to be honest didnt think was too bad but before comitting to it just thought worth asking on here if anyone knows better place to look (got quote from Moneysupermarket site with Go Girl)

Thanks.

I bet he will love being insured by Go Girl XD And this does sound about the average price.
If you try a comparison site such as confused, money supermarket etc, find out who is best, then call them direct, often you can talk them down a bit and they will give you other tips to get it down such as join a club, limit the mileage as much as possible, and have you as a named driver. One thing I would advise is to AVOID BLACK BOX AT ALL COST - they add money on every time you brake corner or accelerate hard and this record will stay with you the rest of your life on the road, This should all help. I found that Adrian Flux gave me the best deal for my first year, but something to think about with them is that the customer service and attitude they have towards you is pretty poor. But its worth putting up with a moody guy on the phone as in my experience they were over £1000 cheaper than the rest. This was shortly after passing my test, i don't even know if they will do learner insurance, but when he passes well worth a call to. Footman James are meant to be good too.

Oh and good choice of first car biggrin

Bear in mind that it will go up once the license changes from a provisional to a full license, and probably by a significant margin.

IMO if you can get insured for £1k or less at 17 (full license) these days then you've got a good deal.

I'm paying around £400 for a 92 mini at 24 with 7 years NCB in a grade B postcode.

My son has been with HIC since he passed his test. Started with a Mini City, which he learnt to drive in. Now has a Mini Cooper. They have been really good, and a good price, with an agreed value.
