I have, after many years, purchased another Mini (A 1998 Mini Cooper)
I bought the car at auction and unfortunately don't have a geat deal of paperwork to go with the car.
I have already started work on the suspension and brakes but I am a bit concerned about the problems that may occur when I disconnect the battery.
(1) The vehicle has fuel injection and therefore will I have any problems with the ECU?
(2) I don't have the code for the radio. When I re-connect the battery, can I get the radio "re-coded?"
(c) The vehicle has an alarm and immobiliser. How can I overcome any problems before I discoonect the battery.

Any/all help would be much appreciated!!

Buy a battery maintainer. Around £14 or so from a motor factors.

1) has no affect on the ecu

2) radio code will be in the handbook (or sometimes written on the top of the radio in pen) - it will loose the code if the battery is flat

3) has no affect on alarm / imobiliser

Is that correct? If I disconnect the battery on my wife's Paul Smith, I have to reset the alarm/immobiliser by pressing the "unlock" button on the blipper 4 times.
