its about time my lad got his hands dirty so I'm going to get a Mini for him and Mrs B to tootle around in- replacing the uber-reliable Fiesta which has served them both well.
1) am I correct in thinking the later ones had injection not carbs? when did they change?
2) me being an old fart and running them pre-injection days- is injection better than a pair of SU's or a Weber?. I'm looking for brisk performance, not a track day special
3) anyone have anything half decent they are interested in selling?

any response this side of abusive gratefully received!

Injections came in around 92, first single point then later multipoint. But, conventional wisdom is the quality of the steel went down hill around that time so even if you find one that looks fine potential horrors could lurk underneath. So a later car doesnt mean you get a better car, all minis are old now.

Best option is a single SU HIF44 (1 3/4) for 1275 motors, manifold is where the gains are to be made. Only use 1.5s if you love that look. Webbers are more problematic due to need for bulkhead mods, and not nescessary on road car spec anyway.

Bodywork/corrosion is the biggest issue to watch for. All the mechancial parts are readily and cheaply available, as are the panels - can you weld?
