Has anybody used Evans Waterless Coolant on their Classic Car? Fitting new Water pump, Radiator etc to my Classic Mini, and thinking of using it. Thanks for any advice
Well how cool is this i get a text from my Wife saying she was on the forum and saw this Question now i know she is looking i had better be a good Boy Edited by GraleEvo on Thursday 9th January 08:02
By the way she has a 20year Side Walk that she has had from new with 20k on the clock and wont change for anything else.
As of now Her car has not been changed over as i renewed the coolant before i discovered Evans and i prefer to fit Evans when hoses etc are being renewed as you have done as once in you never need to change it.
I have it in all my TVRs and have tested it to the Limit on a 3000mile Rally through the Alps etc.
The Beauty of the Product is no corrosion at all but even better no pressure at all so in theory you could drive with the cap off.
I tested it at the top of the Stelvio in June when i reached the top and boy was she hot i took the cap off and watched the coolant running through.
I just feel the lack of pressure alone is well worth the investment the mini is less than 5 ltrs from memory so a little over £100 for peace of mind.
The greatest benifit is if or when you get a problem say a water pump packing up before you know it you have steam coming out of the engine bay and a blown head gasket and maybe an engine rebuild.
However with Evans you will see the temperture rise no steam no pressure and no blown head gasket and no engine rebuild.
I know of at least one car manufaturer that are planning on fitting as standard fit from new wont say who until its official.
I know its often hard to overcome the sceptics who say they have used water all there lives and worked fine will all i can say is when the internal combustion engine was invented if Evans was around no one in there right mind would have used water.
Hope that helps a little and keep enjoying the best classic car in the world after the TVR

Well Sir, you have now made me think again! Probably because I have a Sidewalk built in 1995, which also got very hot at the top of the Stelvio (last July)! Just thought it was expensive, especially when you also add the pre-flush 5ltr.
Great well done cheaper that a rebuild have you any pictures of her up the Stelvio please post them if you want to see the TVR up some of the mountains on that trip go on you tube and look up TVR 3000s Leiage Bregia Leiage Rally Bet the mini was great fun on those hair pins well done

Some Skoda's (Poss other AVG groop cars) have water for life. The presser bit is a bit misleading. It dose not boil, some cars run the system under presser and this would be the same with any liquid used. A well set up well looked after mini will work well with out the extra price of evans. I think it is a good product (and not the only one avalible). But it is just down to cost v worry.
