Hi gents

I have acquired a lovely 1 owner 96 Mini 1.3 spi with low miles in Tahiti Blue and love it

The big question is

Should I put Sportpack arches on and 13's ?

I really like the look but then I quite like it original

Any help welcomed including wheel and tyre suggestions if I do do it

Thanks

I would keep it original,i never liked the look of minis with sportpack arches especially with standard rover wheels simply because the wheels are just a bit to narrow.Leave it on 12`s and enjoy it.If you do put it on 13`s you`ll have to cut loads from the front arches and its not going to be easy to go back to 12`s.

Drive a Sportspack and that will generally convince you....not to bother, they drive appallingly,my vote would be for 10's much nicer drive than 12's or 13's and Mini's just look so right on 10's...

13" wheels - Too Big. Too Heavy. 10"'s however cloud9

If you do decide to proceed with a 13" Sportspack conversion, factor in a change of steering rack. Rover restricted the turning circle and steering arc on Sportspack cars by putting lock stops on the revised rack. This was to stop the 13" wheels hitting the front inner wheel arches which is a straight MOT failure.

she shall be kept on 12's with original arches

Mine, changed the wheels to 12x5 Superlites, had arches sprayed body colour. Looks a lot better in my opinion. Few other changes you can't see there too.

As other have said leave as is or go to 10's. Size isn't everything you know! wink

I wouldnt sports pack it. I've done it before. I kept eating through wheel bearings, you have to hack the front wings to fit the wheels. W&P arches with deep dish 12" is the best look in my opinion.
